Project Path

Every project we work on follows a project path to completion. There are subtleties with each project based on what the exact specifications are, but this is the path that we have seen success in following.

Someone has to know what the next steps are on a project and we figure it should probably be us. (joke) Of course it should be us. This is part of the collaborative process. We free you up from sitting and thinking about what comes next in our process. Who is supposed to be doing what. It is a dance that we are comfortable taking the lead on.

The following are the general steps in a project path and the items that typically fall in each step. It’s not set in stone, but it does at least give us a clear path to start down

1. Application Core/Vision – In this step we take the information gathered in the discovery meeting and start applying it to the project itself. We will know at this point the overview of the project and can start making technology decision based on the first meeting. In this step we forecast pot holes that may occur and start looking at what technology already exists. We look back in code libraries and at open source tools and get together a punch list of what will make up the DNA of the project.

2. User Interface Design – This phase of the project is where we plan out the architecture of the project and start building out the User Interface. Our designers look over all documentation that has been produced around this project up to this point and begin to design the look of the project. Multiple iterations are performed in this step until the user interface is completed.

3. User Experience Design – The user experience goes way deeper than just the interface. During the user interface step, out team is already meeting internally about what it will be like for the end user to walk/click through the sites. Designers and developers collaborate over the vison to see what tools will be used and how the designer can make them integrate into the whole vision. Once the design is complete the developers dive in and do their jobs. Our developers are provided will all the elements of the design to use during the completion of the development of the app. Literally ever piece of the project will be thought thru and there will be no left over out-of-the-box look to the tools used. We look at every page and every click and trim down the user experience to the most sophisticated possible. We love this part of the project. It is where everything comes together.

4. Branding/Marketing/On-going Support – During this step we define the new brand created or look and document the impact the new project has on the brand. We use public and grassroots avenues to promote the project and help establish future steps for the vision. We stick around to make sure that everything is fuinctioning, that user trends are accounted for and to look for opportunities to improve the end result. We stick around until you are ready for us to “take a break”  or move onto the next project.
